This has been a difficult but enlightening experience for me, showing me that there are more genres out there than I had previously believed, and that non-fiction can be just as beautiful as fiction.

Today’s prompt was ‘reunion’. I found this one a bit difficult, as I couldn’t think of any obvious significant reunions in my life.

Then, I thought about the few times I’ve met up with lost childhood friends and how awkward it was. Once I had that idea, I was away, on a journey of nostalgia and silences.

I was thrilled that we were given the topic of beauty, as this is a very important theme in my work. I want to write worlds that people long to escape to; lands that wear their beauty like a badge of honour.

Today is Day Two of the 555 creative non-fiction 100-word story challenge, and the theme is ‘departure’. I found this one harder than yesterday’s challenge of ‘childhood objects’, as it didn’t conjure such strong images for me.

Ultimately, I came to a common practice of mine while travelling, that of ‘dancing it out’ in every home before I left.
